Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and COFIDES have announced the launch of a new €300 million ($327 million) joint investment fund aimed at supporting the growth of Spanish businesses and accelerating the country’s economic transformation.
The new initiative, called the Ispania Growth Fund, will focus on investing in Spanish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly companies involved in green energy, digital transformation, technological innovation, and other future-focused industries.
According to a statement carried by the Qatar News Agency, the fund is designed to support strategic projects that contribute to Spain’s long-term economic development and competitiveness.
The fund will be managed by Portobello Capital and will target scalable businesses with strong growth potential across key sectors of the Spanish economy.
COFIDES will participate through its FOCO investment program, a public co-investment initiative created to attract international capital into strategic industries that support Spain’s economic future.
Mohammed Saif Al Sowaidi said the partnership reflects QIA’s confidence in Spain’s economic outlook and its commitment to supporting innovation-driven industries that will shape future growth.
Meanwhile, Angela Perez said the agreement strengthens the long-standing relationship between the two organizations and demonstrates the success of efforts to attract global investors to Spain.
Officials expect the fund to play an important role in supporting job creation, regional economic development, and the long-term resilience of Spain’s SME sector.
Industry experts say the partnership highlights growing investment cooperation between Gulf sovereign wealth funds and European economies, particularly in sectors related to sustainability, technology, and innovation.
The launch of the Ispania Growth Fund also reflects increasing global interest in supporting businesses involved in clean energy and digital transformation as countries work toward more sustainable and technology-driven economies.
