Amazon Launches AI Feature That Creates Personalized Podcast Episodes

Amazon has introduced a new feature for Alexa+ that allows users to generate personalized podcast episodes using artificial intelligence.

The feature, called “Alexa Podcasts,” is now rolling out to users in the United States and is designed to create podcast-style audio content on demand based on topics chosen by users.

According to Amazon, users simply need to ask Alexa+ about a topic they are interested in, and the AI system will automatically research the subject, collect relevant information, and generate a podcast episode within minutes.

The company said users do not need to upload documents or write scripts themselves. Instead, Alexa+ creates a summary of the planned episode and allows users to adjust details such as the length, tone, and focus before the final version is generated.

Once completed, the podcast is narrated using AI-generated voices that simulate podcast hosts. The episodes can then be accessed through Echo Show devices and the Alexa mobile application, where users can replay them later.

The launch reflects Amazon’s broader strategy of transforming Alexa+ from a traditional voice assistant into a more advanced AI-powered content platform.

Industry experts say the feature highlights the growing role of generative AI in media and digital entertainment. Companies are increasingly using artificial intelligence to create audio, video, and written content tailored to individual users.

At the same time, AI-generated content continues to raise concerns around reliability, misinformation, and the future role of human creators. Questions have also emerged regarding how accurately AI-generated podcasts can handle complex topics, current events, or sensitive information.

To improve reliability, Amazon stated that Alexa+ has access to real-time information through partnerships with major news organizations, including Reuters, Associated Press, The Washington Post, Forbes, and several other media outlets.

Amazon also revealed that it is exploring additional personalized AI audio features, including custom news summaries and audio content created from users’ personal documents and shared information.

The development reflects how major technology companies are increasingly integrating generative AI into everyday consumer products as competition in the AI assistant market continues to grow.
