A new artificial intelligence startup from Sweden is attracting major attention in Europe’s growing tech industry. Pit, founded by former executives and engineers from companies including Voi, Klarna, and iZettle, has secured strong investor backing as it positions itself in the enterprise AI market.
The Stockholm-based startup recently raised $16 million in seed funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, also known as a16z. The investment highlights increasing international interest in Stockholm’s fast-growing AI startup ecosystem.
Adam Jafer, who previously worked at Voi for several years, said the company is focused on helping businesses automate internal operations using AI-generated software.
Rather than offering simple AI chatbots, Pit describes itself as an “AI product team as a service.” The startup’s technology is designed to learn how a company operates and then create custom software solutions that automate repetitive business processes.
The company currently focuses on internal enterprise operations such as support services, back-office tasks, and workflow management instead of customer-facing AI systems.
Pit’s platform includes two main products. One helps enterprise teams identify and guide automation opportunities, while the other provides secure cloud infrastructure designed to meet enterprise standards for governance, compliance, and auditing.
The startup has already started pilot programs with companies in sectors such as healthcare, logistics, and telecommunications. According to the company, the goal is to improve efficiency, reduce manual errors, and allow employees to focus on more valuable work.
The founders say the platform is not intended to replace workers entirely but instead help businesses reduce repetitive administrative tasks and improve productivity.
The company has also drawn attention online after comments about AI replacing some junior engineering tasks created debate on social media. However, company leaders later clarified that growing businesses still require balanced teams with different levels of experience.
Pit was founded by several former members of the Voi leadership team, including Fredrik Hjelm. While Hjelm remains CEO of Voi, his involvement in Pit has helped attract major investors and strengthen the startup’s industry connections.
Investors and analysts say Stockholm is increasingly becoming one of Europe’s strongest centers for AI innovation. The city has already produced several successful technology companies and is now seeing growing interest from global venture capital firms looking for the next major AI company.
Pit also believes its European background could become an advantage, especially as businesses and governments show increased interest in data sovereignty and regional AI infrastructure.
According to company executives, many enterprise customers now prefer AI systems that can operate using European cloud services and locally managed infrastructure, especially in critical industries.
With fresh funding and growing enterprise demand for automation, Pit is aiming to become one of the leading AI infrastructure startups emerging from Europe.
