India and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership by expanding cooperation in defense, energy, and advanced technology sectors during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE.
According to India’s foreign ministry, both countries approved a framework for a strategic defense partnership aimed at deepening long-term security and military cooperation.
The agreement includes collaboration in defense manufacturing, innovation, advanced technologies, military training, joint exercises, maritime security, cybersecurity, secure communications, and information sharing.
The development comes at a time of heightened regional tensions linked to the ongoing Iran conflict, prompting countries across the region to strengthen strategic partnerships and security coordination.
In addition to defense cooperation, the two countries also signed agreements related to energy security. The deals include cooperation on strategic petroleum reserves and the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Industry experts say the energy agreements are important for India as it continues efforts to secure long-term energy supplies while diversifying partnerships with key Gulf nations.
The UAE remains one of India’s most important economic and strategic partners in the Middle East, with strong cooperation across trade, investment, infrastructure, renewable energy, and technology sectors.
Over recent years, bilateral relations between India and the UAE have expanded significantly, supported by growing trade volumes, investment partnerships, and cooperation in emerging industries.
Analysts believe the latest agreements reflect both countries’ broader efforts to strengthen economic resilience and regional stability during a period of geopolitical uncertainty.
The UAE is also a major supplier of energy resources to India and hosts a large Indian expatriate community, making the relationship strategically important for both nations.
Officials from both sides emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in areas such as digital transformation, innovation, and advanced defense technologies as global geopolitical and economic conditions continue to evolve.
